Bluestem classes.

  • Ageless Yoga

Ageless Yoga is a gentle yoga class, designed to create an enjoyable experience for both beginners and seasoned practitioners. Poses are safe and suitable for all ages and body types, including older adults with limited mobility. The class begins with a warm-up of major muscle groups and moves into poses that build strength, flexibility, and balance. Many props are available for extra support.

  • Curvy Yoga®

Curvy Yoga® celebrates and centers the needs of curvy, fat, and/or larger-bodied people. Enjoy a calm atmosphere to release tension in the body and mind with specific guidance on how to accommodate your body comfortably just as it is now. Classes may incorporate gentle stretching; mindfulness and breathing practices; meditation; gentle, flowing movements; restorative poses; self myofascial release, and Yoga Nidra. All bodies welcome; for new and experienced students.

  • Fascia Flow

In Fascia Flow, we will practice self-myofascial release techniques inspired by the John Barnes Approach to Myofascial Release within the container of a gentle yoga class. The format will start with gentle movement and embodiment practices to center ourselves within the body and practice moving from thinking into the felt sensations. The class will culminate with low-force, long-duration holds to release restrictions, increase ease of movement, and create awareness of one’s unique internal infrastructure.

  • FREE! Intro to Bluestem Yoga

This one-time 75-minute class combines conversation with a short sample beginner's class. We'll share all you need to know to choose a Bluestem class that's right for you and feel comfortable in your first class. Perfect for those who've never done yoga, as well as those who've done online yoga or gym yoga but have never taken an in-person studio class. This class is scheduled about every two months; email the studio to express interest.

  • Gentle Yoga

Enjoy a calm atmosphere to release tension in the body and mind. Classes may incorporate gentle stretching; mindfulness and breathing practices; meditation; gentle, flowing movements; restorative poses; self myofascial release, and Yoga Nidra. Find more mobility, openness, and ease for your body and mind as you release the efforts of your day. The Thursday evening class combines Gentle Yoga with Curvy Yoga®, which celebrates and centers the needs of curvy, fat, and/or larger-bodied people. All bodies welcome; for new and experienced students.

  • Hatha Yoga

Bluestem Hatha classes combine standing poses, balancing poses, floor work, and breath work to leave you feeling energized, open, and more alive. “Hatha yoga” is an umbrella term for all posture-based yoga but has come to mean a class with somewhat longer holds than a Vinyasa flow class and pauses between poses. The Saturday morning class is our gentlest Hatha offering.

  • Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga encourages relaxation and release as opposed to stretching or strengthening. Poses are low to the ground without stress on the joints, muscles, or other tissues. And poses are held for several minutes, with a multitude of supportive props, to encourage deep physical and mental restoration. All levels.

  • Rise and Shine Yoga

Begin your day with mindful movement, breath, and balance. A 60-minute practice suitable for all levels. Pre-registration required by 8 pm the night before. Please read the detailed class description visible on the booking widget on our book-a-class page.

  • Sunday Reset

Set your intention and prepare for the week ahead with this gentle class. Teachers may cue mindfulness and breathing practices, gentle stretching, gentle self-massage, and/or restorative poses.

  • Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa classes are faster-paced than other Bluestem classes. The teacher cues sequences of poses, linking movement to breath, energizing and warming the body. You'll build stamina and strength and increase flexibility through a mix of standing and floor poses.
Variations for students of mixed levels, but some experience expected. The Sunday morning Vinyasa class is one of Bluestem’s most vigorous classes. If you’re new to Vinyasa or prefer a somewhat slower pace, consider our Wednesday evening Vinyasa class or our weekly Hatha classes.

  • Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is a slower, more meditative style of yoga blending Eastern & Western wisdom. Yin seeks to enhance strength, mobility, and organ health by targeting the connective tissues such as fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones and the meridians of the body as defined by Traditional Chinese Medicine. Class will consist of long-held passive floor poses with props like blankets, bolsters, and blocks to support your practice. All levels.

  • Yoga FUNdamentals

Great for beginners, but everyone welcome! Learn (or revisit) the foundational postures and practices of yoga. We’ll begin with breath and movement to find presence and body/breath awareness. Then we’ll practice several postures or movements at a slower pace with additional instruction. If you’re new to yoga, this class aims to build confidence and prepare you for other Bluestem classes. Both new and experienced yogis will benefit from a balanced class with a focus on healthy alignment, mobility, and strength. Plus, we’ll have FUN! All bodies welcome.
