Hatha Yoga
Bluestem Hatha classes combine standing poses, balancing poses, floor work, and breath work to leave you feeling energized, open, and more alive. “Hatha yoga” is an umbrella term for all posture-based yoga but has come to mean a class with somewhat longer holds than a Vinyasa flow class and pauses between poses. Our gentlest Hatha class is on Saturday morning.

Power Vinyasa
This athletic flow will challenge body and mind to integrate the powerful practice of movement and breath. Expect vigorous Sun Salutations, followed by arm balances and inversions. This is Bluestem’s most vigorous class. Prerequisites: Vinyasa experience, including a Bluestem Weekend Vinyasa Flow class, and a conversation with Sandy before your first class.

NEW! Somatic Flow (Vin-Yin)
Flow from motion into deep rest. We open with an upbeat, rhythm-based vinyasa—feel-good movements set to music that help you build strength and shake off the day’s stress. Midway, the tempo softens into Yin and restorative shapes, where props and mindful cues invite your nervous system into true rest-and-digest mode. “Somatic” simply means listening to your body. You’ll be encouraged to notice what feels good, adjust or skip poses as needed, and let sensation—not appearance—lead the way. Class is trauma-informed and accessible for all levels.
-
Vinyasa Flow
Vinyasa classes are faster-paced than other Bluestem classes. The teacher cues sequences of poses, linking movement to breath, energizing and warming the body. You'll build stamina and strength and increase flexibility through a mix of standing and floor poses.
Variations for students of mixed levels, but some experience expected. The Sunday morning Vinyasa class is vigorous. If you’re new to Vinyasa or prefer a somewhat slower pace, consider our Wednesday evening Vinyasa class or our weekly Hatha classes. -
Yin Yoga
Yin yoga is a slower, more meditative style of yoga blending Eastern & Western wisdom. Yin seeks to enhance strength, mobility, and organ health by targeting the connective tissues such as fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones and the meridians of the body as defined by Traditional Chinese Medicine. Class will consist of long-held passive floor poses with props like blankets, bolsters, and blocks to support your practice. All levels.

Yoga for Teens
This 45-minute class is designed to reduce stress and support self-esteem, focus, and balance—with laughs along the way! At Bluestem, we practice yoga for physical and mental well-being, not for “fitness” or to “sculpt and tone.” Our beautiful studio (no mirrors) is a quiet refuge from the noisy world; expect to feel calmer and more centered after your time here. All levels, no yoga experience expected. Email your interest to Sandy.

Yoga FUNdamentals
Great for beginners, but everyone welcome! Learn (or revisit) the foundational postures and practices of yoga. We’ll begin with breath and movement to find presence and body/breath awareness. Then we’ll practice several postures or movements at a slower pace with additional instruction. If you’re new to yoga, this class aims to build confidence and prepare you for other Bluestem classes. Both new and experienced yogis will benefit from a balanced class with a focus on healthy alignment, mobility, and strength. Plus, we’ll have FUN! All bodies welcome. Email your interest to Sandy.
